Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 5, 2026. This policy explains what data Gather (“we”, “us”) collects when you and your household use the app, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. Gather is a family meal planner: one household, per-member accounts, and shared meal plans, recipes, and shopping lists.
Data we collect
To run the household planner, we store:
- Account data: the email address and password used to sign in (password handled by our authentication provider — we never see or store it in plain text).
- Display names and profile info, including for account-less members (e.g. children) added to a household by an account-holder. Account-less profiles have no login credentials of their own and no data of their own to separately consent to — the account-holder who added them is responsible for that data.
- Household meal plans: which recipes are assigned to which household member, on which day and meal slot, and portion settings used to compute how much to cook.
- Recipes you or your household members create or import, including ingredients, quantities, and instructions.
- Pantry contents: items and quantities you record as on hand, used to reduce what appears on generated shopping lists.
- Usage data strictly necessary to operate the service, such as session cookies that keep you signed in.
Why we collect it
Every piece of data above exists to operate the core product: showing the right household its own meal plan, computing correct portions and shopping lists, and letting editors manage recipes and pantry state. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your data for advertising or profiling. We do not share household data with other households.
Where your data lives
Gather is built on Supabase, which hosts our database, authentication, and file storage (e.g. avatar images). Supabase acts as our data processor: it stores data on our behalf, under our instructions, and does not use it for its own purposes. Data is protected in the database by row-level security rules that scope every household’s data to that household — no other household can read or write it.
How long we keep data
We keep account and household data for as long as the account is active. If you stop using Gather, your data remains associated with your household until you or an editor removes it, or until you request deletion (see below).
Your rights (EU/GDPR and elsewhere)
If you are located in the EU/EEA or another jurisdiction with similar data-protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data (most of this you can edit yourself in Settings).
- Request deletion of your personal data and account.
- Export a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
You can delete your own account at any time from Settings → Danger zone inside the app. To exercise any of the other rights above, or if you need help with deletion (for example, if the household needs another editor first), please contact us at the email below and we will act on your request without undue delay.
Children’s data
Gather lets a household add profiles for members who don’t have their own account, such as children, so meals can be planned for them. These profiles are managed entirely by the account-holding adult who created them and hold no login credentials, contact information, or independent access to the service.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated “last updated” date.
